I want to make your manuscript shine! I offer a friendly approach to editing and will provide detailed edits and explanations. I do this for two reasons: 1) So you can polish your manuscript, and 2) To ensure you understand why the edits were recommended and can apply them toward future writing. I’m here to help you shape up your writing, but also to help you learn.
I mainly specialize in developmental edits and manuscript evaluations, taking earlier drafts and helping writers push their stories to the next level.
While the books I worked on during my time as an in-house editor were mostly romance, my biggest love is young adult fiction. My favorite YA novels include Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman, One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus, and You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone by Rachel Lynn Solomon. I would love to work on manuscripts in a similar vein as these books.
Are you ready to prepare your YA or romance novel for its next steps? If your manuscript falls under one of these genres, let’s chat:
- Fantasy or speculative (though I work on these less often)
Please review each edit type and fill out the form below if you would like to request one of these services. If you’re still unsure of what you need, feel free to reach out so we can decide which one works best for you!
This is an introductory service, and a great place to start if you’ve completed a manuscript but aren’t sure how to begin the revision process. I will evaluate your manuscript’s strengths and areas for improvement in an editorial letter. This service does not include inline comments; instead, the editorial letter you receive will help open a discussion about how to improve your manuscript in general.
This service is the most comprehensive option, and a great choice if your manuscript has already undergone one or two big-picture edits (either through self-editing, critique partners/beta readers, or a manuscript evaluation). Developmental editing includes substantial content feedback. You will receive notes on various factors, such as voice, character motivation, scene structure, sequence of events, and general feedback as necessary. A developmental edit includes inline comments directly in the manuscript in addition to an editorial letter.
This service is mainly recommended for writers who are self-publishing, and is meant for manuscripts that have already gone through a series of big-picture/developmental edits. Once your story is where you want it, a copyedit includes inline edits at the sentence level, reworking sentence structure, grammar checks, and focusing on the general flow of the piece. I will also fact-check certain elements and ensure consistency in the spelling of names, places, etc.
DISCLAIMER: Working with me on your project does not guarantee placement with an agent or publisher. While I can help shape your novel and get it ready for its next steps, I am of course unable to guarantee the outcome.
